All Natural Deodorant DIY

Created with Microsoft Fresh Paint

I recently went on an all-natural deodorant kick, and subsequently purchased TOMS All Natural Deodorant from Trader Joes. It didn’t feel very dry at all, so I also bought a homemade version from a Yoga studio, but the lemongrass scent was so over powerful that I couldn’t stand to wear it after a few weeks. Then my friend Michelle told me she had a fabulous recipe for it, and let me tell you….it works! Keep reading for the recipe and to see how it went…

fruit snacks

foggydress_fruitsnacks

In an attempt to eliminate “fake food” from my diet, I’ve been replacing the pre-packaged, always-too-chewy fruit snacks that I usually eat  with real dried cherries, blueberries, cranberries, etc. I  love dried cherries, and if you’re worried about your sugar count, you can buy plain dried cherries with no sugar added from Trader Joe’s. Costco also sells these in bulk, and blueberries too.foggydress_fruitsnacksHave a good weekend~

I’ll be attempting a hilly, 12 mile mountain biking course tomorrow morning, and you bet I’ll be bringing some (real) fruit snacks along.

Working Out at Crystal Coves

foggydress_workout_beach
foggydress_workout_beachSometimes it’s cool to have photographers as friends. Then you can do random photo shoots with them and they can use their amazing camera skills to make you look awesome. Seriously, I cannot get enough of the lighting in these pictures – they’re flawless! It didn’t hurt that it was overcast for most of the day either.

We explored Crystal Coves State Park beach in Laguna, Ca. Every time I think about living somewhere other than California, I always think “sure I could do it” And then I visit the beach and I’m like “We’re never leaving!!”

I did a whole lot of stretching…. haha. But really, some days when I realize I haven’t worked out in a while, I just stretch, and count that as my workout (why shouldn’t it count?? It feels sooooo good). This was one of those days apparently!

Hiding From the Sun

foggydress_sunhatI really don’t know how it happened, but my summer is totally booked up. Like I’m getting anxious just thinking about all the mini trips and work and travel and visitors and weddings and showers and… ya. But life is good so I can’t complain. Stay tuned for lots of extremely sporadic posting and projects…

I just came back from a trip up to Santa Cruz, Ca with my mom and aunties and I realized that, despite what my my ultra-brown skin might tell you, I am always hiding from the sun!

I think it started about 5 years ago on my church mission to Taiwan, where I was outside all day everyday for 1.5 years. The people there were extremely afraid of the sun. It was the funniest thing! They would cover themselves up from head to toe with all these funny gloves that reached all the way to your arm pits and hats with cloth hanging past their shoulders, despite the extreme heat and humidity. They told me my skin was too dark and I needed to cover up, and they praised my pale-white mission companions whose skin color they pined for.

Nowadays I always travel with a hat or two, sunglasses, and my favorite spray-on sunscreen by Neutrogena (70 SPF!). At the beach, if I take a nap I’m sure to throw a towel on top of me. During workouts, I try to keep my outdoor runs to the early morning or evening times to avoid baking.

Am I crazy?? It’s ok, some people think so.

Here’s to beautiful summer and soaking up the sun (in an appropriate amount of time of course, after which you should slather on sunscreen or find some shade)!! Hahah. Yep, I’m crazy.

Hey, who’s that?

foggydress_appleseedSome things that, as women, we should’ve learned about (maybe some of you did!) when we were a lot younger, is all on Appleseed Fertility. Want to get pregnant? Want to avoid getting pregnant? Don’t want to spend money on birth control? Don’t want to take birth control? Just want to learn about how a woman’s body works, in an artistic and understandable way? Danielle – a fine artist turned Apple guru – is taking her creative skills to a platform that helps girls and women…check it out and tell me what you’ve learned. You’d be surprised how many women don’t know these things about their own body (that would include me).

Love you Dan!
