So my 2015 new year’s goals are to become a minimalist (or at least kind of become one..). I have big dreams about having an amazing closet some day, but for now my big dreams entail just finding my clothes in my closet. It is tiny, and I mostly have storage on the top shelf and underneath, but I decided that the first step to finding my clothes in that black hole was to PURGE. I sent a few of my friends a snap chat to show proof of my purging. I pulled every item that was questionable, and sorted it into either: donation or trash. I have this weird emotional attachment to like EVERYTHING, so every time I started saying, “but I bought this when…” I just gave myself an imaginary slap to face, looked at it through my husband’s eyes (i.e. emotionless, nonsensical, minimalistic), put on my big girl panties and let. it. go. It actually wasn’t that hard, I don’t know what my problem is. Anyways, I’m rambling.
Scrolling through Pinterest just made me want to minimize, minimize, minimize! There are some cool looking closets, but totally not my style. Like, if I need to have 40 shelves for my 200 pairs of shoes…. there is some major shoe purging that needs to take place. I prefer to have essentials that are on heavy rotation in my closet, and then donate/sell them every few years and rotate new pieces in. (I know I sound ridiculous, like #firstworldproblems, but everyone has their hobbies to blow their money on & clothing is mine okay!)
My dream closet would be some sort of combination of this:
